Karla C. Steele Accepts Shareholder Status with Califf & Harper, P.C. Effective January 1, 2009


Karla C. Steele has accepted shareholder status with the law firm of Califf & Harper, P.C., effective January 1, 2009. Califf & Harper, P.C. was established in 1870 and currently consists of twelve attorneys. Ms. Steele has been practicing law with the firm since August of 2002. Ms. Steele received her Juris Doctorate (J. D.) and a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the University of Iowa. Ms. Steele is engaged in the general practice of law; her general practice includes estate planning and administration, real estate law, business law, and immigration law. Ms. Steele is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Iowa. Ms. Steele has delivered numerous legal seminars and prepared articles on topics such as: (1) Tax-Deferred Exchanges Under 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code; (2) Form I-9 Compliance and other Immigration Issues for Employers; (3) Hot Topics in Immigration Law for Human Resources Personnel; (4) Workplace Harassment Training; and (5) The Illinois Employee Classification Act. Ms. Steele is a member and/or sits on the board of several community organizations, including the Moline Public Schools Foundation, Casa Guanajuato Mexican Cultural Center, The Women's Connection, the Western Illinois University Foundation's Quad Cities Leadership Committee, and the Moline Rotary Club. Ms. Steele resides with her husband and their three children in Moline, Illinois.
