Sigrid U. Zaehringer Presents "Employment Law in the Age of Social Media" for Area Organizations

On Wednesday, March 21, 2012, Sigrid U. Zaehringer, an Associate Attorney at Califf & Harper, P.C. presented "Employment Law in the Age of Social Media and Guidance from the NLRB" at a dinner event for the Quad City Labor Relations Society. The presentation focused on issues facing employers and the workplace in the age of social media. Ms. Zaehringer included in her discussion key holdings in recent National Labor Relation Board ("NLRB") decisions.  Ms. Zaehringer also addressed the possible issues and laws implicated by an employee's use of social media and some of the pitfalls to avoid when drafting and enforcing policies dealing with social media usage.

On May 11, 2012, Ms. Zaehringer engaged in a similar presentation for Ruhl & Ruhl and Two Rivers Insurance.  While similar, this presentation focused more on employment, rather than labor law.  Ms. Zaehringer more closely identified issues and procedures for dealing with employees and social media because, in this case, the employers work with individual employees instead of labor unions, therefore, the NLRB does not govern the employment relationship.
