Califf & Harper, P.C. Attorneys Present for Scott County Bar Association Seminar


On Friday, December 16, Karla C. Steele and Jonathon C. Fox, both partners with Califf & Harper, P.C. provided presentations for a Scott County Bar Association seminar at the River Center in Davenport, IA.
 
 
Karla C. Steele opened the Scott County Bar Association seminar with "Immigration Law: H-1B Status for Specialty Occupation Workers". The presentation described the process involved with applying for a special visa for foreign workers in a "specilty occupation". Ms. Steele detailed a list of the necessary documents and conditions which must be met in order to receive an H-1B visa to work in the United States.
 
 
 
 
 
Jonathon C. Fox provided a presentation of "Illinois Arbitration Cases: Rules and Procedures" describing Illinois Supreme Court Rules 86 to 95 requiring and governing mandatory arbitration. The presentation incluced explanations of some of the intricacies involved with the mandatory arbitration process and the conduct of the arbitration hearings. Mr. Fox focused on some of the ins and outs and different interpretations of the rules by the courts as well as a few personal anecdotes related to his experiences with mandatory arbitration.
